Producer Chris Cousin has garnered a wealth of glowing reviews of late with appearances on Ai Records’ ‘Station’ compilation and for Fabric’s ‘Amalgamation of Soundz’ with his trademark electronic trickery. As well as scoring music for short films and producing for the likes of Normal Position, Hint and Chin Chin, SofaLofa has also been putting the finishing touches to his forthcoming debut album 'Mellifluous' due out in February 2006.
Bathysphere head back to Popkomm, the International music conference in Berlin next week. It's all just work, work, work ... oh and some music of course.
The Bathysphere stage was another raging success at this years Summer Sundae festival. An extra special thanks goes out to headliners Plaid who graciously swapped slots with Psapp when their keyboard player got caught up in the airport mayhem. Indeed, all the acts were a pleasure, the music was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Roll on 2007.
Sónar - the annual festival of progressive music and multimedia arts in Barcelona, has become a staple of the Bathysphere digital diet and we love it. This year we've joined forces with a number of other UK record labels to take a stand at SonarPro. If you're out there as well, come over and say hi. www.sonar.es
Bathysphere Recordings' very own Buoys are currently tucked away in the plush Bathysphere studio. Working on both their debut album and their live set for the Summer Sundae Festival, they have not seen daylight in three months (cruel but necessary). This has left them particularly pasty and scary looking, so here is a nice, bright picture of a JET5000 buoy. More news and release dates soon.
Sunday 4th June 2006 saw the launch of the first ever Watch-This-Space headphone tour. The project, called Hidden Tracks, involved working in collaboration with Metro-Boulot-Dodo to create a soundtrack that links a rural art gallery with an Elizabethan mansion via a three mile footpath. The Footpath cuts through the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside that links Fermynwoods Contemporary Art Gallery with the Lyvden New Bield. For this launch thirty people simultaneously donned headphones and queued up MP3 players to play different parts of the soundtrack at specific points along the walk. The tour is free and is open to anyone , so please follow these links to find out more.
The Nanoplex caravan cinema will be in attendance at the Leicester Riverside festival in June. We will be there for the full two days (3&4 June 2006) showing our acclaimed brand of moving image work. As usual entry is free into the Nanoplex so for anyone who hasn't had a chance to catch the first three specially commissioned Nanoplex films this is an ideal opportunity to have a nano-sized arts experience inside a family caravan.
