Leicester's National Space Centre planetarium will be the venue for a specially commissioned live performance of Sofalofa's debut album 'Mellifluous'. Presented in 5.1 surround sound, Sofalofa will be composing cinematic ambient soundscapes using a combination of electronic sounds, field recordings and classical instruments. Performing with Sofalofa will be Bathysphere's Stuart Smith and one of the UK's leading electroacoustic artists, John Richards (Kreepa, Sand).
Sean Clark of Cuttlefish Digital Arts will be projecting live video onto a 360 degree cinema screen with DMX lighting to immerse the audience in a unique live audiovisual experience.
Bathysphere are working again with metro-boulot-dodo to create a unique installation experience under the 'Watch-This-Space' banner. From February 22-26 the creative team will be taking over Ashby castle to create a site-specific performance tour that will combine quadraphonic sound with large-scale outdoor lighting and live performance to bring the castle ruins to life. There will be two evening performances of the specially commissioned outdoor show on Feb 22/23 Feb, followed by two days of performance tours on Feb 25/26.
Work is well underway on an exciting new project which will take small audiences on a specially commissioned headphone tour of rural Northamptonshire. Bathysphere are working with metro-boulot-dodo to create a a footpath tour that links the Fermynwoods Contemporary Art Gallery with the Lyvden New Bield - both deep in the rolling Northamptonshire countryside. Listen to sounds, music and words that re-tell the stories. atmospheres and events that shaped the land. The project will be launched in summer 2006.
Bathysphere are pleased to announce a new commission from Leicester's Haymarket Theatre. The project is called STOLEN, is directed by Adel Al-Salloum and will be performed in the studio space from 1st-3rd December 2005. The commission will involve new video and sound work created especially for the show. The production is described as "... A modern anthology for those with an appetite for stories of love, lust, money, power and misused identities. A brand new piece of work by the Young Blood Company..."
The Bathysphere Nanoplex Mobile Moving Image Centre makes it's maiden voyage to Derby for the Darley Park World Music Festival Saturday 3rd September 2005. Pictured here in Leicester at it's illustrious launch, the Nanoplex has already visited events in Leicester and Nottingham showing cutting edge surround sound moving image work that has been produced by Bathysphere in collaboration with other artists. Bathysphere have just finished designing the sound for the new outdoor installation created by metro-boulot-dodo theatre company. It's a crazy cocophany of sound design and lo-tempo music that premiers at the National Theatre on the Southbank on 1st & 2nd September 2005.

Bathysphere curate their second electronic music microfestival at the Phoenix Arts in Leicester this October with live performances from The Dead Texan & The Buoys plus an installation from composer and sound artist Peter Batchelor.
The Bathysphere Stage at this years Summer Sundae festival was a huge success with fantastic live performances from guest artists including Four Tet, Arovane (pictured), Minotaur Shock and Flotel.
Our new short film, Newsround hits the big screen on 4th June at 4.30pm with a special preview screening at Phoenix Arts, Leicester.
Written and directed by Metro-Boulot-Dodo and produced by Bathysphere, Newsround blends music, humour and stylish visual sequences to take a beautiful look at a sometimes ugly world. The dynamic and varied cast features actor and writer Steve North; TV, film and stage actress Paddy Glynn; Metro-Boulot-Dodo's Paul Long.
Newsround was filmed entirely on location in and around Leicester and features new music by Bathysphere.
