Mellifluous’ is the uplifting first album from Bathysphere Recordings’ co-founder Chris Cousin aka Sofalofa and follows 2005’s enchanting 7” release ‘Magic Shopkeeper / Kids’. Forging cinematic ambient soundscapes and acoustic instruments with an electronic musicality, ‘Mellifluous’ is an audio diary of anticipation and wonder inspired by the birth of his two children.
Sofalofa’s trademark low end dubby basslines and slow motion beats are ever present - cut, spliced and re-arranged with a swing groove, adding the funk to tracks such as ‘Florence’, ‘Clear’ and ‘Contact’. There’s also a venture into the darker, dirtier electro sound on ‘Counterbalance’, but for the most part ‘Mellifluous’ is a lo-tempo, ambient long-player awash with swirling textures and cinematic strings. It’s a honeylicious album that should be listened to on lazy days, at early morning after parties and late into the night.
The CD is also accompanied by the Sofalofa video ‘Magic Shopkeeper’ produced by Nottingham’s Low Brow Trash and is available online as Bathysphere’s first audio and visual Podcast.
"a nice collection of subtle soundscapes, sharp grooves and sumptuous melodies"

“I love the album. It makes me want to go on a late-night road trip through the middle of nowhere just for the sake of blasting this album while I'm doing it.”
