Chin Chin’s debut on Deep-Water Recordings is a luscious down-tempo treat not to be missed. ‘Shallow Dive’ is what happens when three strong musical personalities team up, intent on producing a record that marries the acoustic with the electronic via a creative process honed from years of playing live.

Chin Chin are Frankie Binns, Theresa Connelly and Chris Cousin (aka SofaLofa on AI records) and are here under the guidance of midlands based production moguls Bathysphere. ‘Shallow Dive’ nods at the like of Matthew Herbert, Four_tet and Cinematic Orchestra through its beautifully conceived, wistful elegance. The studio trickery is never over apparent, allowing the piano, acoustic guitars, voices and oboe to guide the listener straight for the flotation tank. Although from the ‘Laptop-folk’ camp, ‘Shallow-Dive’ is for all electronica, downtempo, Chill and even post-rock fans looking for something enchanting to discover.
