Bathysphere Lo Tempo Hi-Fi Arena
Bathysphere were commissioned by Leciester’s Summer Sundae festival to produce a live event inside a marquee for Friday 13th August 2004. The result was the Bathysphere LO_TEMPO_HI_FI_ARENA. The idea was to programme a night of downtempo electronic artists with a leaning toward more ambient music. Music was to flow between the acts, with emphasis to be placed on the atmosphere created in the marquee rather than individual performances.
Display of moving image work was central to the night with high-power video projections and innovative use of lighting. To ensure this last goal was reached a high-power video projector was borrowed from Nottingham’s Trent University, which allowed work to be projected onto the front of the De Montford Hall.
The event provided a great opportunity to showcase music creators from the city and to be a valuable platform for Bathysphere, Deep-Water Recordings and project partners Auxilec and Cuttlefish.
